Method

1. Lemon Ice Cubes
1. Combine all of the ingredients for the lemon ice cubes in a large cup. Transfer to a 12-slot ice cube tray. Place in the freezer for at least 8 hours before serving. Note: These ice cubes will be slightly softer than normal ice cubes.
2. Simple Syrup
1. Combine water, sugar, and citric acid in a small saucepan and place over medium-high heat. Whisk until the sugar has dissolved and bring to a boil.
2. Reduce the heat and add the lemon zest. Simmer for 5 minutes. Remove the syrup from the heat and cool to room temperature.
3. In a large pitcher, combine the simple syrup, lemon juice, and water. Mix together. Store in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours before serving. The lemonade can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
